Reverend Dr. James Tebbutt

As the minister of Bishop’s Cleeve Methodist Church, and with the church’s leadership and congregation as a whole, we try to be a welcoming, inclusive and friendly church, that seeks to have a thinking faith, and hearts that care for one another and the wider world.

I also have a wider role as the Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Circuit of Gloucestershire, with an overall responsibility for working with lay and ordained colleagues to encourage the mission and ministry of the Circuit’s 45 churches, of which Bishop’s Cleeve is a part.  I am also an Ecumenical Canon of Gloucester Cathedral.

Before arriving in August 2013, I was a minister in the Medway in Kent, in Hayes in West London, in Sheffield, Manchester and most recently in Poynton in Cheshire, looking after churches and being at times a Prison and University chaplain.  Before that I was a solicitor for about a decade, mostly in central London.  I have a PhD and special interest in the interface between psychotherapy and pastoral care and theology.

My wife is also a Methodist minister, presently with a national role, and we have one daughter.  My interests include hill walking and classical music.  My longing is for the world to know more of the love that God has for all.

Do get in touch with me if there is any way in which I can help, or if there is anything you would like to talk through.
